Buying school shoes at the Back to School period can be extremely stressful for parents, children and even well wishing shop assistants. Here are our top tips to try and make this important shoe buying experience as easy as possible.

1) If buying in store then make sure that you bring your child, their school socks, and your family loyalty card to claim any discounts that you are entitled to. If you are buying online make sure you have any relevant discount codes.

2) The earlier you look the more choice there will be, although we don’t expect to run out of school shoes. The last two weeks of the holidays will always be the busiest so you may have to wait longer than normal to be served in store.

3) Allow enough time, so if you are buying in store try not to fit in getting shoes before other appointments. You never know how long it will take to find the right pair of shoes that you both agree on. If you are buying online we aim to dispatch within 48 hours, even at the busy Back to School period. 4) Remind your child that having been in trainers and sandals all summer, school shoes will feel different. Suggest they wear the new shoes at home for a couple of hours before the new term starts, in preparation for spending all day in them.
