Sending parcels from Great Britain to Northern Ireland - Please use a domestic address
Under the Windsor Framework arrangements for sending parcels from Great Britain to Northern Ireland is now scheduled to take effect from 1st May 2025. Private individuals in Northern Ireland should be able to receive parcels sent by direct transport from businesses in Great Britain the same way as they always have. There should be no customs interference and no need for businesses to supply customs declarations or apply tariffs when parcels are sent from Great Britain to a private individual residing in Northern Ireland for personal use.
Little Wanderers has been happily sending parcels of children’s footwear to Northern Ireland for over a decade. We have navigated the complexities surrounding GPSR, which is unique to Northern Ireland, and hope to continue to send kids’ shoes to our Northern Irish customers for many years to come.
However, despite attempts to clarify this, there still remains some vagueness in the current Framework, about delivering parcels to individuals at their place of work. The Framework distinguishes between private individuals and businesses but does not clearly advise how customs will determine which is which. Royal Mail, who are the only carrier we use to send parcels to Northern Ireland, have amended their Click & Drop site to include the question for Northern Ireland postcodes “Recipient is a Business” but refuse to commit as to how this should be correctly answered and whether the “Recipient” can be a private individual, even at a business address (place of work), or if “Recipient” is intended to mean the actual address.
With this in mind we are strongly urging all our customers in Northern Ireland to place any orders for delivery to a domestic address, at least in the short term, so that any potential issues and mistakes can be ironed out.
Please also ensure that all contact details are included when ordering, especially a phone number you can be reached on, so that any potential issues can be resolved swiftly.
Little Wanderers will only sell children’s shoes to domestic customers in Northern Ireland. Any shoe retailers/businesses in Northern Ireland who may be interested in purchasing from us should email us with details of their requirements. B2B orders to Northern Ireland are likely to be cancelled without prior consent.
