Today the levy charged for a single-use plastic carrier bag in shops in England has increased to 10p. All retailers, even the small ones, who provide single-use plastic carrier bags with purchases now have to charge for them.

Although we have always considered the quality of our carrier bags to be better than "single use", and we know that previously many of our customers have reused bags, the thickness grading of the plastic used means that our Little Wanderers carrier bags are not exempt from this change. Therefore we have decided that, as the vast majority of our customers no longer want a bag anyway, we shall no longer be offering plastic bags in our Bolton shop.

We currently have a small amount of Hush Puppies branded paper bags and our customers are welcome to use these if required. However, once these are gone it is not our intention to replace them as the demand for carrier bag use is now so small.
